SEO After This Year: A Change Will Do You Good

You know how keeping your fleet customers on a preventive maintenance schedule allows you to stay ahead of any issues on their rigs? That’s kind of what SEO does for your business. Search Engine Optimization focuses on improving your website’s keywords, site structure, citations, and other areas that help search engines like Google continue to pay attention.
At Dieselmatic, SEO is one of the key components that we manage for your business. The thing is, it’s more than just optimizing keywords and making minor tweaks to your website structure. Just like the diesels you work on, parts sometimes wear out, and fluids need to be changed. Some fixes are easy, and sometimes, turning your wrench opens your eyes to bigger issues. Well, when your SEO needs some PM, it won’t turn into a safety concern or mean you’re failing a DOT inspection. But it will impact your online business presence and the customers coming through the door.
That said, the PM that our SEO team does is a background activity. But that doesn’t make it less important than your website interface. And to keep this background activity running smoothly, the Dieselmatic SEO team is constantly learning and finding new ways to improve our efforts.
And oh my, have we learned a lot in 2025! As we wind up this year, we thought we’d share what we’ve learned and what that looks like for your business.
SEO: Let The Past Go
If there is one thing we’ve seen a lot of in the last year, it’s been the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). And with AI taking centre stage, there has been a big emphasis on ensuring there is a human element to what happens online with your business.
Quality Content
One of the big changes we’ve seen is the decline of generic blog content. Now, this is one of those things that we spend a lot of time working on. We’ve noticed a big shift in what quality content looks like for your business. How articles that are informative and over 1,500 words tend to have stronger organic traffic results than shorter pieces.
In practice, this means adding popular formats like “How-tos” and “Lists” to your content mix to boost performance. By adding further education to your business content, you can make the search engines see you as a more reliable authority.
Consistent content on your website encourages organic traffic growth, which means people find your diesel shop without seeing an ad. This usually means that you need something engaging to keep your readers interested. Generic content is exactly what it sounds like: boring content that can apply to anyone’s business.
What search engines are paying attention to is quality, intent-driven content that highlights your expertise and answers the questions that your customers are looking for. It’s more than just talking about what air brakes are, and instead talking about how reliable air brakes on I-95 on a cold winter’s night can save your life.
Bottom line, there is value in specific, intentional content. Having understood this shift, we’re able to realign with our content teams to ensure they’re adhering to an overall strategy and purpose for the content.
People matter
Anther thing we’ve seen this year is how important customer interactions have become. This looks like Google reviews, photo shares, and other touchpoints that signal to search engines that people appreciate your business.
Five-star reviews go a long way! And don’t fret! Even a negative review can be turned around. It’s all in how you respond and repair with your customers. Google reviews help solidify your business’s online reputation. Statistics show that a strong reputation can generate nearly 7x more leads. And replying… even to those negative reviews can increase your revenue by 35%.
Why? Responding to your customers, the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly, adds a human element to your business.
Local SEO
Piggybacking on how people matter to your business, another big change we’ve seen in SEO is the rise of local SEO. It’s one thing to have a website with all the right words, the best design, and the right images, but if you can’t tether your website to where your business is physically, then you’re doing yourself a huge disservice.
Local SEO leverages your local area — major cities, truck stops, and any other local features that make it easier for your clientele to find you. For mobile repairs, this appears to include your service area radius.
Death to Set and Forget SEO
The last thing we learned this year— and probably one of the most important things we can share with you — is what we’re calling the “death of set and forget”. It’s a common thought (and, sadly, even common practice with some businesses) that SEO is done just once. You can set it and forget it… move on, thank you, next.
But the truth is that algorithms change, search intent varies, and businesses have different needs based on seasons and local happenings. And because of this, what works for one business doesn’t work for another. What works for three months won’t work for six. What is working in 2025 won’t work in 2026.
SEO is as close to living and breathing as you can get when it comes to your business marketing. It never stays the same because people don’t stay the same. Their needs shift, and as a result, your business needs to adapt.
Lucky for you, we’re SEO experts!
See you in 2026!
